San Jose is a major city in the U.S. state of California that is the cultural, financial, and political center of Silicon Valley and largest city in Northern California by both population and area. It is the third largest city in the state, and the 10th largest city in America. San Jose is California's oldest civilian settlement, first city, and original capital.

San Jose is 45-minutes south of San Francisco. San Jose is connected to San Francisco by two major freeways, US-101 and Interstate 280. From the East Bay, use either I-880 or I-680 South. Nearby cities includes Sunnyvale, Santa Clara, Palo Alto, Mountain View (Google), and Cupertino (Apple).
San Jose is serviced by two commuter lines. Caltrain commuter line that runs north along the Peninsula to San Francisco in one direction, and continues south to Gilroy in the other. San Jose is the southern terminus of Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART).
Amtrak California's Capitol Corridor line runs through the East Bay and then inland to Sacramento and Auburn. Amtrak's Coast Starlight line runs once daily from Seattle, through the Bay Area and down the coast to Los Angeles. |
